Hokkaido University has adopted the four basic education and research principals of: Frontier Spirit, Global Perspectives, All-round Education, and Practical Learning. Based on these principals, we have established the “Future Strategy for the 150th Anniversary of Hokkaido University” toward our 150th anniversary in 2026.
The basis of the plan as outlined in the strategy states: “We will support and nurture those who will lead the next generation of researchers” and “Expand the tenure-track system according to academic field for the early development of young researchers.”
The desired image of tenured faculty members as aimed for in this project is that they should be:
- Leaders of the next generation of the University and the departments that conduct interdisciplinary sciences
- Leaders of the next generation of the University who assess, plan and achieve the roles that the University must play
